An Artist's Own Luxury Vermont Retreat
Nancy Elizabeth Shaw, the owner of Adams Hill House, is an accomplished chef specializing in organic, alkaline-style gourmet spa cuisine.
After a three or four day program at Adams Hill House, you will go home satiated, inspired and feeling very light.
Her integration of European cooking styles with the fresh tastes of Mexico and Asia make each dish a surprise.
With a focus on fresh local food, particularly produce, cooking classes will give you a whole season of ideas in your own kitchen.
Cooking classes start at breakfast, with a discussion of the menus of the day.
We will prepare various dishes together for the evening meal - usually an appetizer, soup, salad and desert. The main course and vegetables will be prepared later in the day.
When farm stands are open in the summer, we will take a field trip to select our food for the day. Off season, the chef will order the very best organic produce, meats and fish from a local provisioner, who can access local produce even in winter.
Lunch will be prepared as a group, consisting of salad, perhaps some of the soup made in the morning and one other course such as grilled shrimp or a vegetable non-gluten pasta.
Afternoons are free for a nap, a walk or an excursion.
A wine tasting, appetizers and the dinner class begin at 5:30.
The class will then enjoy everything prepared during the day!
Dinner concludes at 8:30.
